An International Direct Dialing (IDD) call is a long-distance telephone call placed directly by the caller from Singapore to a recipient in another country.

Dial 019, followed by the Country Code, Area Network Code, then the Telephone Number.

For example, if you are calling a Malaysia number from Singapore:
019 + 60 + [Area Code] + [Phone Number]

This is standard local practice in Singapore.

You are using the local cell towers to connect to our service provider's gateway. This uses your local SG talktime. Our provider then "patches" you through to the overseas number. This is what triggers the IDD rate (or uses your IDD bundle).

For example
If your plan has "1,000 local SG minutes," every minute you spend on an IDD call will be deducted from that 1,000-minute bucket. If you run out of local minutes, you shall be charged a $0.05 local per-minute rate.

Actually, that’s not quite right. While you are in Singapore, you need an IDD plan to place long-distance overseas calls.

While traveling outside of Singapore, any calls you make to other countries are classified as roaming calls rather than standard IDD calls. Because roaming charges are significantly higher, we strongly advise against placing these calls to avoid excessive billing.
