Roaming Data/Voice/SMS
If your current mobile plan includes active data roaming for your destination, your phone should connect to a local network automatically.
If it doesn't connect, or if your data isn't working, you can MANUALLY select one of our preferred network operators to get online.

For iPhone (iOS)
✅ Open the Settings app.
✅ Tap on Cellular (or Mobile Data, depending on your region).
✅ Tap on Network Selection.
✅ Toggle the Automatic switch to Off.
✅ Wait a few moments for a list of available carriers to appear.
✅ Tap the name of the network you want to connect to.
For Android
Note: Android menus can look slightly different depending on your phone brand, like Samsung or Google Pixel, but the steps are essentially the same.

✅ Tap on Mobile Network (or SIM manager).

To use data roaming while you are overseas, you must make sure you have an active roaming add-on that support your current travel destination. Once confirmed, please ensure the setting stated below:
✅ Turn on data roaming in your phone’s cellular/mobile data settings.
✅ Turn off airplane mode
✅ Make sure you APN setting is set as: e-ideas
✅ Reboot your device, if necessary.

Yes, you will be charged for roaming incoming / outgoing calls when you are outside of Singapore.
You are strongly advised to use messaging apps like WhatsApp, Line, WeChat etc. when you are roaming outside of Singapore. These calls are free over Wi-Fi or data, so you will not be charged for them.

Making/Receiving calls while overseas can be VERY expensive, as we incur costs from the supplier and add a markup to cover our operational expenses. Therefore, we recommend utilizing alternative methods like messaging apps or Wi-Fi calling whenever possible.
However, if you do need to make such a roaming call, please check out the rates below.
If you are in Malaysia & Brunei:
✅ Incoming call: $0.40 per min
✅ Outgoing call within Malaysia & Brunei: $0.40 per min
✅ Outgoing call to Singapore: $0.60 per min
✅ Outgoing call to rest of the world: $7.00 per min
If you are in any countries outside of Singapore, except MY & Brunei:
✅ Incoming call: $5.00 per min
✅ Outgoing call within the same country: $5.00 per min
✅ Outgoing call to SG: $7.00 per min
✅ Outgoing call to rest of the world: $7.00 per min

W.E.F Feb 2026, Roam Guard, a new feature, automatically absorbs the cost of your first 10 minutes of incoming roaming calls each month while you’re overseas to help prevent bill shock; any incoming time beyond 10 minutes and all outgoing roaming calls are charged at standard pay‑per‑use roaming rates.
